Liverpool and Arsenal go toe-to-toe for transfer of Eirik Granaas

Eirik Granaas is almost certainly a name that most Liverpool fans won't have heard of.

The 16-year-old midfielder currently plies his trade for Norwegian outlet Fredrikstad FK and is seen as the next big thing to emerge from the country.

He's already played five times for his currently club and he's even chipped in with a goal.

And, thanks to his form and his extremely high potential, the interest of Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Newcastle United has been piqued.

That is, according to an update from TEAMtalk who can ‘confirm’ that Liverpool are now ‘firmly in the chase’ for the transfer of the youngster.

Newcastle are also 'serious contenders' for the transfer with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund also 'vying' for a deal.

No formal moves have been made to sign the youngster just yet but, with the way he's progressed thus far, TEAMtalk suggest that 'everything' points to a high-profile switch in the not so distant future.

Liverpool still have other player they should sign before thinking about Eirik Granaas

Even though Granaas probably wouldn't cost an arm and a leg to bring to Anfield, there's still other areas of Arne Slot’s squad that need upgrading before thinking about their future.

Indeed, the transfer of Rio Ngumoha has been an instant hit, but, since Granaas wouldn’t be allowed to join until 2028 due to his age, it feels like the Reds have plenty of time before making a decision over the Norwegian.

During the January transfer window, several youngsters such as Mor Talla Ndiaye and Noah Adekoya were brought in to bolster the Reds' academy ranks, there’s still areas of their first team squad that could do with a new face or two being brought in.

It's going to be another summer of change at L4 in the upcoming transfer window with Richard Hughes and Slot likely to work overtime to find the right players.

Because, if they don't improve their ranks and figure out a way to get back to their best, things could go from bad to worse with the club even potentially ending up worse off next season than they currently find themselves.
