Johnny Cardoso played just one minute of Atlético de Madrid's Champions League quarter-final win over Barcelona, but he has been handed a start tonight by Diego Simeone.
In the process, he has joined a very exclusive USMNT club.
The 24-year-old, who was born in New Jersey but moved to Brazil at just three months, becomes only the third United States international to start at this stage of the competition.
He will be aiming to further replicate Christian Pulisic by hitting the back of the net – the now-Milan winger is the only US player to score in a semi-final.
