FC Barcelona are set to enter the market in the summer for a new left-winger, with a permanent move for Marcus Rashford seeming unlikely.

The 28-year-old Englishman’s €30 million buy clause and high salary, coupled with concerns about some aspects of his game, are set to derail the player’s dreams of securing a full-time transfer to Catalonia.

As such, Barcelona are looking for alternatives in the market, with recent reports suggesting that AFC Ajax starlet Mika Godts is on their radar.

Barcelona to scout Godts

Building on that, Voetbal International (h/t Carpetas FCB) reports that Barcelona will have scouts present at Ajax’s game against PSV Eindhoven to monitor Godts.

And, scouts from several clubs, including Barça, are expected to be in attendance at the Johan Cruijff Arena to watch Godts in action.

Having come through the youth ranks at KRC Genk in Belgium, Godts made the switch to Ajax in 2023 and has made immense progress over the past three years.

This season, the 20-year-old Belgian starlet has played 39 games in all competitions, recording 16 goals and 13 assists.

Godts has a contract with the Dutch giants until the summer of 2029. Even though his market value is around €25 million, Ajax are expected to hold out for a much bigger fee for the youngster in the summer.

The fact that former Barcelona director, Jordi Cruyff, now holds the same position at Ajax could work in the Catalans favour if they do decide to proceed with their interest in Godts.
