Much has been said about the future of Robert Lewandowski this summer.
The Polish veteran’s contract at Camp Nou expires at the end of the season, with the club ready to hand him a one-year renewal. But the new deal includes a sizable salary cut and a reduced role in the team.
This is not something that entices Lewandowski, who is in active discussion with Italian teams such as Juventus and AC Milan as well.
Lewandowski set to leave Barcelona
Amid all the conflicting reports about Lewandowski’s future, Guillem Balague has written a column for BBC Sport, all but confirming that he is indeed leaving Camp Nou.
Although the column does not actually talk much about Lewandowski’s future, it does confirm that the Pole is leaving at the end of the season, after four years at the club.

The veteran forward had joined Barcelona in 2022. And since then, he has racked up around 120 goals for the club in all competitions, higher than many of the club’s celebrated legends.
But at 37, Lewandowski’s time at Barcelona is up. He will turn 38 by the start of next season and although the Catalans are more than willing to borrow his services for another season, it appears the player wants to continue playing regular football.
The report adds that Barça want to move on from Lewandowski and have set their sights firmly on Julian Alvarez.
The Argentine’s €120 million price tag is not going to help things out. But the player remains Barça’s top target in the upcoming summer transfer window.
As for Lewandowski, a move to Italy now appears to be the likely scenario, with Juventus and AC Milan among clubs interested in his services.
MLS outfit Chicago Fire were interested in his services as well, but it seems they have given up on the chase.
