Yours for £52m: Contract rebel could replace Mo Salah

The Egyptian King, 33, has reached an agreement with the club to tear up his £400k per week contract. Originally slated to end in 2027 the deal will now expire this summer – leaving the two-time African footballer of the year free to pick his next club.

Salah’s departure opens a gap wide on the right-hand side of Liverpool’s attack. There are several names in the frame to replace him – with Yan Diomande reportedly among the favourites.

Others – such as Bradley Barcola and Desire Doue – have also been mentioned. But the issue with those signings is cost – with RB Leipzig thought to be holding out for around £87m for Diomande.

A budget option could be useful for Arne Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes – and in that context Liverpool may have found the ideal candidate.

Liverpool could strike deal for Adeyemi

Liverpool have been extensively linked with Karim Adeyemi over the last number of transfer windows – with Borussia Dortmund finally set to cash in on the 24-year-old.

The left-footer is rapid – excelling as a wide forward down the right side – but the German international is also a useful weapon down the middle.

Under contract until 2027 Dortmund are now ready to accept only £52m for Adeyemi – who has endured a frustrating season both on and off the pitch.

That’s according toa new report in Sports Boom – which suggests the player’s disciplinary issues this season have led BVB to offer him around.

Adeyemi wants between £150k and £180k per week

“The heavy fine received following the incident during the national team camp in November, combined with his aggressive reactions when being substituted, has completely burned bridges with the Dortmund management,” the report reads.

“Dortmund management, which at one point valued Adeyemi at €60-70 million, is now adopting a more pragmatic stance. Although Dortmund still believes in the player's potential, they view a sale as a "necessity" due to the decline in professional standards and the deadlock in new contract negotiations.

“Dortmund are ready to open negotiations in the €60 million bracket following the player's disciplinary problems.”

Adeyemi will cost something in the region of £150k to £180k per week for a contract – according to the report. That wouldn’t break the bank – at least with Salah and potentially Federico Chiesa leaving.
