AC Milan are preparing to face Juventus on Sunday 26 April at 20:45 CEST at San Siro, on Matchday 34 of the Serie A season. A heavyweight clash that promises plenty of excitement, with the campaign approaching its decisive phase and every point becoming increasingly crucial. As kick-off draws closer, here is our Match Preview.
LATEST FROM MILANELLOIt has been some time since AC Milan last faced Juventus — the previous meeting came early in the first half of the season — and the sides have not met at San Siro since November 2024. Allegri’s squad put a difficult spell behind them with victory away to Verona, though the moment remains delicate. Napoli sit second, three points ahead, while Juventus are close behind in fourth, also three points back. The advantage over the chasing pack in the race for the Champions League places is encouraging but far from definitive. This is therefore a direct clash that cannot be underestimated — potentially the final major obstacle this season. It has been an intense week of work at Milanello. The squad is at full strength and no major changes are expected in the starting line-up. There are no suspensions, while Athekame, Fofana, Leão, Modrić and Saelemaekers are all one booking away from suspension.
“It’s always a brilliant fixture,” said Allegri on the eve of the game. “One of the most important meetings of the season. It’s not necessarily pivotal, but it’s a match that could allow us to take another step forward in this project. At this stage, results and points are what matter most.”
LATEST FROM JUVENTUSFrom mid-March onwards, Juventus have been the most in-form side in Serie A, collecting 13 points. Aside from a home draw against Sassuolo, the Bianconeri have put together a run of victories without conceding — from last weekend’s 2–0 win over Bologna (with goals from David and Thuram) to a 1–0 success against Udinese. Since the arrival of Spalletti in the dugout, Juventus have shifted gears, closing the gap to the top of the table and recently making what could prove a decisive move in the race to secure qualification for next season’s Champions League. The main attacking threat is Yıldız — even if not currently at his absolute best — who has bagged 10 goals and six assists this season. Perin, Cabal and Milik are unavailable.
PRE MATCH STATS
- AC Milan are both the team that have beaten Juventus most often in the history of Serie A (53 wins in 181 meetings, as well as 59 draws, 69 defeats) and the side that have scored the most goals against the Bianconeri in the competition (227).
- After 33 league matches, AC Milan have 15 more points than at the same stage last season (66 vs 51). In the three-points-for-a-win era, the Rossoneri have recorded a bigger improvement between one Serie A season and the next after the same number of matches only in 1998/99 (+23 compared to 1997/98), 2003/04 (+18 compared to 2002/03) and 2008/09 (+15 compared to 2007/08).
- AC Milan (104+60) and Juventus FC (121+58) are among the four teams — together with Inter Milan and Como 1907 — that in this Serie A campaign have recorded at least 100 positional attacks (sequences of at least 10 passes ending with a shot or touch in the opposition box) and at least 50 direct attacks (moves starting in their own half with at least 50% forward progression and ending with a shot or touch in the opposition area).
- The match will pit two of the four coaches to have reached 300 wins in the history of single-round Serie A against one another: Massimiliano Allegri (321, second only to the 352 of Trapattoni) and Luciano Spalletti (302, level with Rocco). In particular, the Rossoneri coach will become the manager with the most managerial appearances in AC Milan vs Juventus clashes in Serie A history: 25 (currently 24, level with Trapattoni). He is also already the only coach to have at least 100 Serie A matches in charge of both clubs — 302 with Juventus and 166 with AC Milan.
