London Pulse continued their fine form by thrashing Birmingham Panthers 61-35 to climb to the top of the Netball Super League (NSL) standings.

Pulse extended their winning streak to six matches and have only lost to Loughborough Lightning, who sit second with a game in hand, this season.

In contrast, Panthers, who have never beaten Pulse in the NSL, have only won one game all campaign and sit bottom of the standings.

Liv Tchine was top-scored with 19 goals as Pulse team-mates Sophie Kelly and Kamogelo Maseko each chipped in with 10.

Pulse also still proudly boast the best defence in the league with 454 goals against, compared to the 479 scored against Lightning in one fewer game.

Earlier, AO Manchester Thunder boosted their hopes of sealing a top-four finish with a 60-47 win over London Mavericks at Brighton Centre.

Eleanor Cardwell starred with 27 goals to lead Thunder to a second successive victory against the Mavericks, having won at home earlier in the campaign.

On Friday, Nottingham Forest made it back-to-back wins with a 68-63 victory over NIC Leeds Rhinos at Sheffield's Canon Medical Arena.

Forest, in fourth, earned a fifth victory of the campaign to move within one point of AO Manchester Thunder in third.

South Africa shooter Rolene Streutker led the scoring for Forest with 34 goals, while Jayda Pechova, 20, registered three rebounds and was named the player of the match.

Pechova said she felt she could "still push a bit harder" as she looks to get selected for the England squad, with head coach Chelsea Pitman singing her praises.

"Pechova is having a phenomenal season. The growth I have seen – and not just on the court – has been a blessing. She's such a coachable athlete," Pitman said.

"What a year she's having, especially with it being a Commonwealth Games year."

With 18 points, Forest boosted their chances of a top-four finish and thereby qualifying for the post-season stage while Rhinos remain seventh with just one win in nine matches.
