Kun Aguero is still one of Leo Messi's best friends in the world of football. The former Argentine player reflected on the future of the football legend at Inter Miami in an interview with Stake. He also assessed Neymar's possible arrival in MLS to play alongside him again.
"Leo will do what he wants. In a year's time he will review the contract. If he feels physically fit, happy and calm, he will continue with great calm. Obviously, knowing Leo, he is very competitive and hates to lose. But he is in a very nice city, very comfortable. Many Latinos love him and he feels that affection,” he said.
"I think it all depends on his fitness. Seeing him today, I think he can play with ease. If I were him, I would stay here even if it was only five minutes. But if he's OK, we'll know in a few months. After the World Cup and the MLS season he has one year left. I don't think he's thinking about what he'll do in 2028," he said.
Messi arrived in Florida in mid-2023 and is under contract with Inter Miami until December 2028, when he will be 41 years old.

Kun Aguero was enthusiastic about the possibility of Neymar ending his career playing alongside Messi, before the Argentine decides to put an end to his glorious sporting career. “It would be great fun. Hopefully Neymar will play with Leo again. It’s great to have players who have won everything and, above all, legends. For the American public, MLS is spectacular,” he said.
Finally, he reflected on a possible return of Messi to Barcelona to have the farewell that he never had, an option that today, and with Joan Laporta as president, still seems remote.
"If he returns, it is because he grew up there, he feels love for Barca… I'm from here and I retire here. I don’t know; it all depends on whether he is happy and calm there, and whether physically he can enjoy another year. He is excited about Barca, he will always be linked to the club and, surely, he wants to say goodbye as he deserves. That is the dream of all Cules,” he said.
