The Nerazzurri managed a dramatic comeback from 2-0 down to beat Como 3-2 in their semi-final at San Siro, after the first leg ended 0-0.
Lazio were leading three times over the two legs against Atalanta, only to repeatedly concede an equaliser within a few minutes.
Edoardo Motta was decisive in the shoot-out by saving four penalties in a row, a remarkable result for the 21-year-old who had been signed in January as understudy to Ivan Provedel, but thrown into the mix du to a serious injury.
Coppa Italia Final is set
The Coppa Italia Final is always played at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, but it won’t be neutral territory, because it is also Lazio’s home ground.
The trophy will be decided after 90 minutes, or go to extra time and potentially penalties.
Lazio have a strong record in the Coppa Italia, winning seven times with the most recent in 2019 beating Atalanta 2-0, also losing three Finals.
Inter are in their 16th Coppa Italia Final, having lifted the trophy on nine occasions, the most recent in 2023.
The Nerazzurri only ever did the Double once, as part of the Treble under Jose Mourinho in 2010, when winning the Scudetto, Coppa Italia and Champions League.
