The managerial position at Real Madrid’s first team is one of the most demanding positions in world football, and if the pressure to produce results was not, the dressing room does not make it easy.
In recent years, the players in the dressing room have made it very clear that their respect is not easy to win over, and even club legend Xabi Alonso failed to win over the players.
It appears that his strict tactics and rules created a rift in the dressing room.
Alvaro Arbeloa has been better received by the players, likely for the freedom he hands them on and off the field. Florentino Perez and Co., however, intend to change that.
The new criteria
As confirmed by El Chiringuito in a recent report, Real Madrid have set their criteria for the new manager they wish to recruit in the summer.

What is clear from their criteria is that they want a personality who will demand respect from the dressing room.
For starters, the Real Madrid administration see it as key that the manager is experienced with several years and stints of coaching backing him. After all, their two most recent managers were inexperienced and it didn’t turn out too well.
Beyond the experience, however, Real Madrid are looking for a coach who is a winner. After all, earning the respect of a dressing room like Real Madrid’s will require the incoming candidate to have won big in the past.
Several names who fit the criteria have been linked with the club in recent days, including Lionel Scaloni, Didier Deschamps and even Jose Mourinho.
Only time, however, will tell which direction the club’s interest will head. After all, even Alvaro Arbeloa’s continuity, at this point, is not completely impossible.
