Barcelona’s search for a long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski is intensifying, and one name continues to stand out above the rest – Julian Alvarez.
The Argentine forward has emerged as a priority target, with the club already mapping out the financial framework required to make the deal happen.
While Barcelona are seriously interested in bringing Alvarez to Camp Nou, they are equally clear about their financial limits.
As per Mundo Deportivo, the club have internally capped any potential deal at €100 million and are not prepared to exceed that figure under any circumstances.
Player open to Barcelona switch
There is, however, a major positive for Barcelona in this situation.
As relayed by the outlet, the player himself is understood to be open to the move and sees the Catalan club as an attractive next step in his career.
This is why Barcelona feel reaching a personal agreement with the Argentine would not be a problem.

Lewandowski’s contract situation, combined with his advancing age, has prompted the club to plan for a transition at centre-forward.
Even if the Polish striker were to remain, his role could gradually evolve into that of a rotational or impact option, paving the way for a younger, dynamic forward to take over as the main reference point in attack.
Deal depends on Atletico’s position
Despite Barcelona’s confidence in reaching an agreement with the player, the real challenge lies in negotiating with Atletico Madrid.
The Spanish side are under no immediate pressure to sell and are backed by strong financial support, including investment ambitions from key stakeholders.
In that context, parting ways with one of their most important players would not be a straightforward decision.
Barcelona, on their part, are fully aware that any deal will depend heavily on Atletico’s willingness to engage at their valuation.
If the transfer is to materialise, Alvarez himself may need to play an active role in pushing for the move.
For now, the situation remains delicately balanced and the next move depends on how far all parties are willing to go.
