Not all was good news for Inter Miami in Denver. The victory for 'The Herons' was overshadowed in the final minutes by the sending off of Italian Yannick Bright in the 88th minute. According to Deporte Total USA, in conversation with PRO, the body that regulates referees in MLS, referee Jon Freemon sent off Lionel Messi’s teammate for “using offensive, insulting and abusive language”, specifically “racist”.
The incident happened with Kosi Thompson of the Colorado Rapids after a dangerous foul was called by the referee. Bright’s behavior forced Inter Miami to defend the 2-3 with one player less during the last agonizing minutes of the match. According to the aforementioned media, the disciplinary sanction could be severe and the player could miss between three and six matches.
For the moment, it will be a serious loss for Guillermo Hoyos' side next Wednesday against Real Salt Lake at the Rio Tinto Stadium.
