Arsenal have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon.
The 25-year-old is reportedly keen to explore his options to leave Newcastle this summer.
Gordon hasn’t told the Magpies he wants to leave, but the feeling inside St James’ Park is the winger will seek a move in the upcoming transfer window, per The Telegraph,
Arsenal have a long-standing admiration for the England international and he has featured in recruitment planning meetings.
Bayern Munich have also been linked, while Liverpool could revive their interest in Gordon after coming close to securing his services in 2024.
Newcastle may allow the player to leave this summer, but they are expected to demand over £80 million fee for their prized asset.
Gordon has been a key player for the Magpies since joining from Everton in January 2023 for a fee worth £45 million.
The English footballer has scored 39 goals and created 28 assists in 152 senior appearances. He played a pivotal role in helping his side win the Carabao Cup last year.
Gordon is contracted with Newcastle until 2030, but he is now seeking a challenge elsewhere.
He wants to play in the Champions League and Eddie Howe’s side are likely to miss out on European qualification.
The Tyneside club currently sit 14th in the league standings, with 10 points adrift of fifth-placed Liverpool.
