Como 3-4 Inter Milan – Nerazzurri Boss Identifies Game-Defining Moment: “Goal Before Halftime Was Crucial”

Inter Milan head coach Cristian Chivu praised his side’s performance in last night’s stunning 4-3 victory at Como.

Speaking to Inter TV via FCInterNews, the 45-year-old identified the game-defining moment.

Despite facing a two-goal deficit heading into the first-half added time, Inter completed their fourth successive Serie A double over Como.

Indeed, Marcus Thuram racked up his first league brace since the opening weekend to launch the Nerazzurri’s comeback.

Then, Denzel Dumfries scored twice in less than 15 minutes to fire the runaway Serie A leaders two goals up.

However, Como pulled one back through Lucas Da Cunha just before second-half stoppages.

Still, Inter survived a late drama at Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia to steer nine points clear of second-placed Napoli.

Inter secured a statement win against Cesc Fabregas’ side in the absence of standout striker Lautaro Martinez.

As a result, they’re now one step away from dethroning Napoli.

“Today was a tough match, and we knew it,” Chivu said after the game. “We scored an important goal before halftime that helped us a lot.

“And we reacted like a mature team, aware of what we’ve done in recent months and what we’ll continue to do until the end.

“We started this season aiming to go far in all competitions, but the results say otherwise.

“We went out of the Champions League, and we’re disappointed. However, we still have two chances to finish the season well.”
