The latest England squad for the international friendlies against Uruguay and Japan this March will be announced by manager Thomas Tuchel this morning, with some inclusions already revealed. It will be the last international break of the 2025/26 season before this summer’s World Cup in North America, and one of the last opportunities for the German to assess his options.

It is understood that there will be recalls for the Manchester United duo of Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire; both of which haven’t featured at all since Tuchel took the Three Lions job. Following the departure of Ruben Amorim, Mainoo has been reinstated to the Man United midfield and looked somewhat back to his best under Michael Carrick. He has 10 international caps to date after breaking through as a teenager.

Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton is also set to be included, as is 21-year-old Newcastle left-back Lewis Hall. Leeds striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is also set to make the cut, whilst it is understood there will also be a first call up for Everton’s James Garner. England face Uruguay on March 27 before taking on Japan on March 31, with both matches being played at Wembley. Tuchel’s side have been drawn against Croatia, Ghana and Panama in Group L of this summer’s tournament, and will tune up for those games with two further friendlies against New Zealand and Costa Rica in Florida in June.
