We asked for your views on how important Bruno Fernandes will be if Manchester United can return to Champions League football next season, and if the club are too reliant on their captain.
Here are some of your comments:
Peter: Fernandes should certainly be kept, considering he’s been Man Utd’s best player through thick and thin over the last four seasons, especially after a change of so many managers and playing positions. He should be on the players plinth alongside Charlton and Best.
Garry: To all the Fernandes haters, he is vital. I detest all the moaning and arm waiving but take him away and what have you got? Casemiro is great but too old, Mainoo is average and too young, Mount is decent but always injured, Ugarte is erratic and not good enough. This has been the problem for years, our midfield is weak, it doesn’t defend and it doesn’t link up with the forwards well. Fernandes is our only chance of getting Champions League and then we must reshuffle the midfield.
Rowan: Fernandes simply has to be with United for their Champions League bid next year, should we still make it in the top four or five. The stats speak for themselves, Bruno is one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League right now, if not the best, and has been consistently strong for us since his arrival. We’ll need him to steer the ship on the pitch and use his experience in coaching the younger members of our team.
